Many Toyota Alphard and Vellfire owners notice the steering wheel shaking when braking.
In many cases, the issue is caused by brake disc heat distortion (warped brake rotor).
This usually happens because of driving habits such as:
• Long downhill braking
• Holding the brake pedal for a long time after hard braking
• Washing the car when the brake disc is still very hot
• Frequent heavy braking in city traffic
When the brake disc experiences extreme heat and sudden cooling, it can lose its flat surface.
This causes steering vibration when braking, especially at higher speeds.
✔ Good driving habits can help prevent this:
• Avoid continuous heavy braking on long downhill roads
• Use engine braking when possible
• Allow brakes to cool down before washing the car
• Perform regular brake inspections
If you feel steering vibration during braking, it’s best to inspect the brake system early to avoid further wear.
